Book Recommendation Guide

We believe books have the power to transform us, which is why we take great care in stocking our fairs’ shelves. We want every student to find a special, unexpected book that lets them see themselves in its story and characters—and feel inspired by the act of true discovery that reading can be.

We also want fair coordinators to know what kinds of books they can expect to arrive. This guide touches on our approach to curation and outlines some of our noteworthy titles, showing how we compare with other fairs and how we set ourselves apart.

Online Favorites

Popular series like Dog Man, Elephant and Piggie, Magic Treehouse, I Survived, Bad Guys, and The Baby-Sitters Club—along with thousands of other remarkable titles—are available online only at literati.com/online-favorites.

Four weeks before your in-person fair, display the library checkout standee and hand out the Online Only Early Access flyers and Bennie the Bookmoto stickers that arrived with your Marketing Must-Haves Kit, letting kids know they can start shopping for online favorites right away.

All online sales made from the time your online fair opens to the time your in-person fair ends count toward your total book fair sales. Families can shop for online favorites all year long, allowing them to support your school beyond book fair week! Learn more at Fundraise Year-Round with Literati Store.

A Note on Curation

Our curators search far and wide—publishers’ catalogs, trustworthy reviews, trade publications—to discover hidden gems that make a noticeable impact. Then, we pack your in-person fair with enough variety to speak to your students’ diverse interests and strengthen their love of reading: stories that surprise and delight, inform and entertain, tickle the funny bone, and tug at the heartstrings.

But What About . . . ?

We also understand that you may be expecting certain popular titles to arrive at your fair. While those popular series that are only available online won't be arriving at your physical fair, we always send you a book selection that emphasizes variety and quality, meaning your school can look forward to receiving:

There’s so much for readers to explore, and we want them to learn that their next favorite book can come from anywhere (and will stay intact for years to come).

If You Like This, You’ll Love . . .

If students ask about particular series they don't see at the fair, point them toward similar ones that breathe new life into familiar premises and themes.
