Volunteer Recommendations

Don’t do it alone! Assemble a team of superstar volunteers who can help you make your book fair more successful and fun.

Create a schedule at least two weeks before your fair begins. We recommend scheduling 1-2 book fair volunteers each day of your fair to help with the cash register and book finding. Assign someone to check the front office for any new replenishment shipments each day!

VOLUNTEER ROLE IDEAS

  • Co-Chair: Supports you with all aspects of the fair, including goal setting, planning family events, advertising, and running the fair.
  • Volunteer Coordinator: Recruits and manages the volunteer team, shares helpful webinar links with relevant volunteers, and sends thank-you notes.
  • Book Club Volunteer: Introduces shoppers to Book Clubs for Kids and Classrooms, helping your fair earn $100 in sales with each, new active membership. (see About Literati Book Clubs).
  • Promotions Volunteer: Develops an advertising plan and helps distribute marketing materials, including posters, signage, parent letters, book flyers, and social media posts. Promotes gift cards, your online fair, and special offers for Literati Book Clubs.
  • Special Events Volunteer: Plans and organizes community or family events, coordinates outreach to local businesses for community partnerships, and manages student contests.
  • Teacher Volunteer: Creates and manages teacher wishlists. Reminds staff members about book fair sneak peeks and the 20% faculty discount on book fair purchases. (Literati Book Clubs, the purchase of gift cards, and Book Profit selections not included.)
  • Merchandising Volunteer: Sets up decorations, builds a drawstring bag display near the checkout area, and creates table displays for journals, Amazing Value books, and the Reading & Writing Centers. See Book Fair Setup for display ideas.
  • Book Fair Volunteers: Greet visitors, run the register, remind customers about Literati Book Clubs, help students and visitors find books, restock products and displays, and assist with the setup and takedown of the book fair itself.

Use the ready-made social media posts in the resources section below to reach more potential volunteers!
