Goal-Setting Strategies
How will you measure the success of your book fair? Before your event starts, set trackable goals and share them widely to get your whole school community involved.
We recommend looking over your book fair reward options to help you decide the kinds of goals you’d like to set. Would you like to aim for higher book fair sales to unlock more rewards? Or are you looking forward to keeping a certain number of books from the fair with Book Profit? Visit our Understanding Your Book Fair Rewards article to learn more.
Your online book fair begins four weeks before your in-person fair, giving you a total of five weeks to meet your goals. Once your online book fair period begins, keep track of your goal progress with your fair dashboard here on OpenBook. Click on the Book Fairs tab at the top menu bar, select your fair, locate the Rewards-Eligible Revenue box, and click View Details to see your up-to-date total book fair sales.
You can also find a dynamic rewards tracker based on your sales data by clicking View Details in the Claimed Rewards box.

Goal-Sharing Ideas
- Print and fill out a goal poster to display in the hallways (see resources below)
- Post your Clubs goal on your school website
- Include goal progress in daily announcements
Reaching your goals is even more rewarding when every student feels empowered to participate in the fair. Please share our Community Sponsorship Letter (listed below) encouraging parents and local businesses to support kids who can’t otherwise shop the fair.
Above all, these strategies will help you achieve the ultimate goal: inspiring your students to love reading!
